Out of the dungeons of Moenchengladbach, Germany the thirty-something pulls the strings and makes things happen. His recent and most successful move definitely was to give birth to the already well established electro/house imprint Systematic in 2004 in Berlin which is a platform for his own productions as well as for hot and upcoming talents. Electronic house music with a certain breakdance appeal, reminiscent of old school Chicago dance floor insanity is Romboy’s true passion, when it comes to deejaying, producing and making decisions as the Systematic commander!

So far for the label he has collaborated with such high profiled artists as Booka Shade or Blake Baxter and signed tracks and mixes from producers like Martin Landsky, John Dahlbäck, Phonique, Jence or Abysm.

After only a couple of releases Romboy managed to put his own stamp on the international club scene and his first artist album Gemini was released in 2006

His second artist album for Systematic records, Contrast released in June 2008, sees an electronic album of collaborations with some of dance music’s most excellent vocalists. Chelonis R. Jones – known for releases on Get Physical and for his collaborations with Röyksopp – contributes on two releases. Blake Baxter – a regular Romboy collaborator who has also released on Kevin Saunderson’s KMS imprint, Tresor, Disko B and Underground Resistance – adds his vocals to ‘Fly Away’. And Mr. K-Alexi – one of Chicago’s finest who has also collaborated with artists including Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Will Smith and Felix Da Housecat, lends his voice to two tracks on the album.

This month sees the launch of the first Front Room Recordings Podcast. Daniel Steinberg under the guise of Cobra Limbos has delivered the most recent Front Room Release. Having had great success on labels such as Microfon, Grandpetrol and Stylerockets Daniel Steinberg now brings his sound to Front Room Recordings and you can expect to hear a lot more from the guy into the future His infectious driving grooves are going to be nothing short of amazing in the Easter Sunday Sun!!!

Have been digging his minimal style with a quirky fun side. ‘In my Home’ has a fun bouncy side to it, very light hearted. where the ‘Opening Close’ has a more deep minimal house side to it. Two very different styles from him.

KAYSH . . .

22 year old Australian producer/dj Kaysh has remixed the likes of Deadmau5, Melleefresh, Pablo Decoder and Neon Stereo, had remixes and originals released on Play Digital, Direct Drive Digital, Domina Productions and System Recordings and has been remixed herself by Kid Dub, Dj Zya, Khainz & Jill Bellac and Addiction to name just a few.

Starting piano lessons at 6 followed by the guitar and drums she always had aspirations of starting a band, but by 13 had developed an interest in electronic music, feeling it was something she could do independently. Buying her first pieces of equipment, a Roland EG 101 followed shortly by an MC 505, she began developing her skills, being heavily influenced by the Melbourne Wetmusik Techno label. She also developed a passion for djing, practicing on friends decks before getting her own at 17 and at 20 she won the Pioneer Pro Dj comp scoring herself some CDJ1000s, a mixer and a Soundsystem.

No FAKE-ing this.. Fake Blood & Sinden

2 04 2009

I LOVE FAKE BLOOD, i have followed this guy since the start of this mysterious identity of producer/DJ Fake Blood. aka (dj Touche).

Bursting into our consciousnesses with his murderous re-working of The Black Ghosts’ Any Way You Choose To Give It, Fake Blood then painted the town red with a diverse series of remixes for acts including Armand Van Helden, Bonde Do Role, The Kills, South Rakkas Crew, Unkle and the legendary Underworld.

He soon delivered with his debut original Mars, the dangerously infectious rave melody that managed to find its way on to virtually every “Best of 2008” list.

Having wowed us at Parklife, Fake Blood returns with new productions for Hot Chip and star-in-the-making Little Boots that will ensure he remains the name on everyone’s lips in 2009.

Sinden, the man behind the Get Familiar parties at London institution Fabric, first grabbed our attention with his collaboration with Switch. The duo’s original productions Din Da Da, Me Mobile, and Red Hot, as well as remix work for Lady Sovereign, Bugz in the Attic and Radioclit popularised the sound facetiously termed “fidget house”.

2007 saw Sinden pair with Joshua Harvey (aka The Count/Herve/Voodoo Chilli) to revolutionize the UK underground scene through club heavy-hitters Tamborzuda, Beeper and Hardcore Girls.

Machines dont care – beat bang download

A furious touring schedule with the likes of A-Trak, Steve Aoki and Boys Noize, and the recent release of his Fabric Live 43 compilation has spurred Sinden’s transition from underground talent to international star, a reputation with can only increase thanks to his participation in the Machines Don’t Care project and further remix love for Bjork, Crystal Castles and Metronomy.

DJ LETHAL, Dont You Know Who I Am ?….

1 04 2009

As a man hes a dreamer, from his dreams he turns them into reality. As a musician he nails the key to adverse styles, techniques and sounds with passion. Allowing him to play along side of various artists!!

Like: Alex Kidd, Dave Joy, DJ Lee, Yoshi, Archie, Doctor Willis, Hellraiser, Sanders, Jewelz, Jason Midro, Johnny L, Soul T, Scott Alert, Amber Savage, Nik Fish, John Coarse, Grant Smiley, Kai Tracid, Steve Hill, TechnoBoy, Luca Antolini, DJ Slideout, DJ Zany, AlphaZone, Joop and many many more….. And more to come!!!!

Leigh Cusack aka DJ Lethal, is an up and coming talent not to be reckoned with. From delivering diverse and dynamic sounds, he captures the essence of all styles ranging from house to electro, tech trance all the way through to hardstyle and always delivers with his ultimate display of crowd pleasing talent, from each set he gets the Fed-Ex stamp of approval..

“Don’t You Know Who I Am…???”  This is his most common comment that i hear him use to get in to places for free, normally to the dodgy-est bouncers. But he ends up charming them with his charisma.

He has run various clubs around melbourne too, like at ILLUSION and ELEVATION.

His Music styles have changed over the years to incorporate a more open minded and positive sound, drawing from all his influences. these mainly include, Electro & Progressive , Techno, Uplifting Trance, Hard Trance, & Hardstyle. I asked him to make a mix to show what this man has got to offer. So here it is

Malakai is …….?

Hot from the inbox was a link from Malakai, with his newest track.

Carpet burn, I loved this. Fun electro synths, with a hiden old school rave element. It even reminded me a little bit of old Plump dj’s stuff where the rolling broken drum patterns happen. maybe you can practice some basic shuffles here in house, Carpet burn.

Practice makes perfect, and time consumption is a must when it comes to practicing on the decks. I think all dj’s at some stage will go without food just for practice. Hmmm, not really a healthy life style then is it.

Scratch Me, I’ll scratch you back

One of my mates has been experimenting with sound, and this video shows his style of what he is achieving. DJ OOMZ has had other alias’s within the music scene, he used to work at Hardware records, and use to spin techno at the occasional party.

When he was working at Hardware records he use to be one of my favorite pushers. Allowing me to find new and unexplored artists and styles of music. The likes of  Oxia, The Hacker, Steve Bug, Carl Craig, Recloose, just to name a few.

Sins On Sunday 22nd of March – ft. Breakbot & Trevor Loveys

16 03 2009

09-03-22 breakbot flyer

Sins On Sunday, is one the best things Geelong has had for a while within the party scene. The flavor of disco re-edits, funk, fidget, ghetto bass line, electro, techno, and house has set a standard of enjoyable eclectic styles to be heard all under one roof. And on no better day but, SUNDAY. The recovery day.

This one is taking place on Sunday the 22nd of March, at the BARKING DOG, 126 Pakington Street, Geelong West. 3pm til 10.30pm, and featuring “Breakbot” a master of the french house sound.

Followed by the After party at CLUB 4 PLAY from 10pm til late, with the special guest Trevor Loveys” a master of the Uk Fidget house sound.

The support provided by Malakai, Mat Cant, 1fishtwofish, Crysknife, Fryzie, Capslock, and others.

Thibaut Berland aka Breakbot released his first single ‘Summer Party’/’Happy Rabbit’ on May 21st 2007 on moshi moshi records. He crafts party tunes. Big ones. Parisian Thibaut has mastered the art of melting together all the best elements of dance, electro and funk with skill and precision. And a laptop. Born in 1981, Thibaut was immersed in the sights and sounds of the subsequent decade, and remained appropriately pulled between his love of animation graphics/comics, and music. Possessing a degree in computer graphics, he created his first animation short film co-directed with two friends (“overtime”). He then directed several tv animation commercials and music videos. He helped So-Me on the design of the justice debut album cover.

Thibaut now cooks up choice cut electronic music, experimenting with beats, layers, keyboards, vocals, and Daft Punk-esque get-yo-funk-on basslines. Whilst Breakbot’s remix of Justice’s ‘Let There Be Light’ appears on their Japanese ‘Waters of Nazareth’ 12″, his double A side with Moshi Moshi is his debut solo release. Since then he made remixes for Pacific!, DatA, Late of the Pier, Metronomy, Pnau, Fatlip, Digitalism, Van She and many more.

He toured with Pnau and Van She in Australia from coast to coast in april 2008 for 17 gigs. He played in many parties over Europe (Paris, Lyon, Berlin, London, Brighton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Berlin, Milan..). Breakbot is now working on his upcoming EP

Trevor’s love of music started at a young age when he discovered electro and hip hop back in the early eighties, he got heavily into the scene collecting all the music he could from various record shops and radio shows broadcasting back then he went on to paint graffiti until his mid 20’s when a close friend bought an akai sampler and roland juno 106 synthesizer, this was to be the turning point and beginning of a journey into production after teaching himself programming and production over a period of 3 years he was ready to put out his first release on the house of 909 imprint, he released around 5 12 inch singles and e.p’s over about a 2 year period then went on to record an Album titled the children we were, that received critical acclaim from music press and fans of his deep house sound,

Then in 2000 he met up with Dave Taylor and started working on various projects together, the most successful of wich was to become the now renound “SWITCH” they released various singles and did some high profile remixes including chemical brothers, basement jaxx and buster rhymes.

He then went on to form the Speaker junk project with Herve another long term friend and production partner, they are continuing to develop this project together with singles and remixes, and after the success of his last solo e.p on Dubsided, Organ Grinder, Trevor is concentrating a lot of his efforts on his solo projects and Djaying.
