its on here wif… CAPSLOCK…

1. How did you get your name man, as its pretty cool, did some one give it to you.?
Ha! Ah well i wanted a name that kinda describes me and the way i dj… a tall dude thats loud and is big on music…yeah yeah! Oh and every time your on ur computer and uv got capslock on……BOOM!

2. I have watched you for a while and appreciated where your style is going, but to most of us, explain what made you inspired or go down this path..?
Well i love my Baltimore club music a shit load…..nothing makes me jump more than hearing that bouncy bass. I guess ud call what i play either Gutter hype, crunk or bouncy party stuff. Mat Cant really got me into the whole crunk scene. Watching him play is off the chain! Part of being a dj is reading the crowd, showing the crowd ur style and going through the genres you love i guess! Interaction with the cats on the dance floor is a big one too! WOOP! So yeah…….if you make people dance n happy n crunk then im all for that!

3. What is your Favorite Hat.? and why?
My favorite hat would have to be my cookie monster hat OR my Philadelphia hat, coz a fair whack of my music i love and play comes from philly producers…. represent!

4. If you could be a lollie, what one would you like to be or would describe you.?
HA wow….ahh well i love grape hubba bubba…all up in ur grills!

5. your lately played with some mad artist’s, out of those which one’s would be your most fav., times, and why?
Well id have to say that Mu-Gen is one of my favorite Dj’s to support or play with because he has crazy track selections and epic skills on the decks! One of my most memorable moments djing would have to be Australia day wknd at sins……just OUTSDE-IN, MAT CANT and myself going crazy to a packed room…..LOOSIVE!

6. Whats your fav color?
Blue….love blue!

7. what is your most inspirational track, and why or what did it do to you.?
Most insperational track would have to be Rez by Underworld……..the live version…..Rez/Cowgirl i think its called…….seriously makes me shiver…..WOW! My dad showed my that track when i was 12.

8. what would you listen to if you were going to chill out?
Well one of the first records i bought was Dj Mehdi – Lucky boy! Love just chilling out in my bedroom with that playing! Mehdi is an amazing producer!

9. Cartoon characters seem to have a little to do with you, Explain?
HA! Yeah true ay! Its not a fetish or some shit like that!!! I love cartoons because they are funny and creative and far from serious! There are a lot of cats out there djing that are way too serious for there own good. I wear all those threads because i guess it shows that im a pretty happy/crazy kid…. plus i just love how fun some of those cartoon clothes look.

10. what is the craziest thing that has happened to you.?
Id have to say the craziest thing that has happened to me is when fell from a the top a 20m tall tree onto a pile of grass trimmings…..that was epic. I was 10….pretty sure! Yeah CRAZY!

Jesse Rose Australian Album Tour – presented by Its Weird In Here + Triple J

23 04 2009

And Geelong has its fair share of this party, taking place on the 17th of May, @ the Barking Dog, Geelong West. And while your at it, ADD ME too on FACEBOOK. I will try and keep you in the know of some of the new music that appears through the scene and my network. OK now back to it, The event that i’m looking forward too for a while, i would have to say, is another Crazy producer stirring the music scene up, and that would be… JESSE ROSE, but even better is that another artist of greatness comes to play along side him on the night. OLIVER $ (dollar).

For all the people that buy a ticket to the event, you will receive JESSE ROSE’s newest album FREE… ticket are available through selected dj’s that are playing, if you now one of them, Hit them up. Otherwise through The Barking Dog, and Capricorn Music (Geelong).

Mixmag – “Say hello to the future of House music.”
xlr8r Magazine – “Your average club-goer may not know what to call the hybrid house being made by Jesse Rose, but there’s no mistaking its potent mix of mind-numbingly crisp techno/house beats, gritty sample riddled melodies and bassbin-blowing subsonics or its effectiveness on a dancefloor”
IDJ“After years earning his dance music stripes, Jesse Rose has finally hit the big time.”

Ever since the birth of music, there’s been someone out there who’s looked at what’s available, taken inspiration from what’s around them and innovated a new style of music. Stand up Jesse Rose. Regarded as one of dance music’s most forward-thinking producers in recent years, Jesse alongside Switch and Claude VonStroke, has been a pivotal figure in the revival of House music being cool once again. For years this fine genre has been misguided, the true underground heroes have continued to make quality, interesting music for sure, but the well known artists have been dated and lazy with their ideas. Switch and VonStroke have been the producers-du-jour of the last few years, 2009 is the time for Jesse Rose.

As one of the UK’s finest exports as a DJ (he lives in Berlin, of course) this is no overnight success PR plan. Jesse started DJing at the tender age of 14, raised on an upbringing of Motown Soul, Jazz and Eighties Funk in London’s Ladbroke Grove area. At the beginning of the nineties Jesse moved to Bristol and started DJing, putting on parties and making music with old friend Jamie Anderson. By the mid nineties Jesse had earned himself an enviable reputation for electrifying sets and was regularly playing at Fabric, which in turn got him bookings across Europe. These days Jesse’s calendar is booked up a year in advance playing only the best venues and parties, since September he’s toured Europe, Japan and Australia and is still the only DJ from the UK to have ever held a monthly residency at the world famous Panorama Bar in Berlin, his own Made To Play night, which continues to be one of the most popular.

2007 seemed without doubt to be Jesse’s year of recognition, featured in every international dance music publication, nominated alongside four others for ‘Best British DJ’ at the DJ Mag best of British Awards, number four in IDJ players of the year & fourteen in Mixmag’s best DJ’s in the world 2007. Jesse finished a triumphant year playing in Sydney to 15,000 people on the main stage at Field Day.

Like his DJ status, as a producer, Jesse is a guarantee. World-renowned for his ‘Fidget House’ sound which he created with long-time music partners Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor and Trevor Loveys, he’s now the guy you turn to when you want a dancefloor remix, lending his services to the likes of Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco, Underworld and literally tonnes more. To date Jesse has recorded for the likes of Classic, Get Physical, JBO, Simple and his own Made To Play and Front Room imprints and of course Dubsided, which is the home for ‘What Do You Do If You Don’t?’

Where Jesse was schooled by Switch (who co-produced many of the tracks featured on the album), he himself has helped bring through the UK’s current dancefloor darlings, anyone heard of Herve? Or Sinden? Indeed it was Jesse that played a key role in the development of their sound, keeping it in the Dubsided family, releasing records together and twisting the template of house.

With an impressive back catalogue of singles and DJ mixes, released on the finest labels and working with some of the most exciting names in the industry, Jesse is now to release his first solo album, an album which is in it’s third complete version, 3 years in the making and his biggest project to date.

The album is a work of brilliance and like Claude VonStroke’s ’07 release ‘Beware Of the Bird’, Jesse shows how cutting edge House can be accessible, playful and fun whilst proving exactly how blurred the lines have become with Pop music, with guest appearances from Hot Chip, David E Sugar and Afra & The Incredible Beatbox Band. The lead single and first track ‘Forget My Name’ has been all over Radio 1, with Joe and Alexis from Hot Chip on vocals spelling out R-O-S-E, making sure you do anything but forget his name. Jesse explains, “After a gig at a rock festival Joe went back to London and wrote me this track. At first I thought the lyrics were a bit too cheeky but as I’m known for that kind of behaviour I thought ‘fuck it, lets do it’.” It was the right decision as it’s currently blowing up the airwaves and clubland, which you could easily predict for a number of the tracks featured across the LP.

Proven bangers ‘Asided’ and ‘You’re All Over My Head’ are featured alongside the Moondog inspired ‘Night At The Dogs’ and future club hits ‘Pop Yer Porn’, ‘Wine Gum’ and ‘Touch My Horn’ with the latter already generating a huge response on the dancefloor and radio as the B-side to the single. Where Jesse has certainly not forgotten his club roots, he’s also shown his skills as a producer of songs with ‘Miss Taker’ featuring rising star David E Sugar and the second collaboration on the album with Hot Chip ‘Day Is Done’. “When I first spoke to Hot Chip about doing a collaboration they sent over two demos, one was up-tempo & catchy and the other was this melancholic, deep and beautiful song. I wanted to go with this one because it gives the album a depth that the more up-tempo tracks might miss.”

It’s true, it does and it also takes the album to new heights. No other dance producer at 30 has more experience than Jesse and no dance producer full stop has an album like this, not even his mentor Switch, VonStroke or Herve. Jesse has operated in the underground for years, proving his worth and importance. With the release of his album in 2009 he will show how he’s now gone beyond the underground and can stand tall as one of the most exciting names in music today.

So if you buy a ticket to one of his album launch party’s, you will receive these tracks.

2.     Well Now

Is basically an outlet for slightly different minded artists to be creative within their medium. They intend on creating a room for people to be creative weather musically or visually in a geelong club. More on this in a coming issue of Forte MAG (may 21st). “Its Weird in Here” is from the makers of Sins On Sunday. So things are changing around and so you should make sure to add them on Facebook, to keep track of their gigs.

With mega partys coming up with Jesse Rose, KA-BOOM, JUNE 7TH, BOYS NOIZE RECORDS SHOW we are here and we are now!

The Jesse Rose gig will be the Offical launch of Its Weird in Here group.!!! So with that note, i have special mix from MALAKAI for you to all listen to, and get busy.

Evil as it comes – its not that bad

21 04 2009

I have occasionally found some good music from the likes of EVIL NINE. I was just listening to there remix of Eagles of Death Metal an alternative/hard rock band formed in Palm Desert, California. the track was “Wannabe in L.A. (Evil Nine’s MCLA remix). Check it out on Last FM. It rolled along so good, i was inspired to wana play some breaks again soon. well i sort of do, but not like this mix that have found out there which is worth a good listen. If you like the breaks fused with rock and electronic influences, then you will dig this, so yeah, get amongst it. It was done for the DISCOBELLE blog.

Evil Nine 45 min mini mix for discobelle Download

birdy nam nam – worried ( djedjotronic remix )

They aren’t evil and there are only two of them, but other than not living up to their randomly chosen yet aesthetically pleasing name Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy in no way disappoint. That’s if you are into a distinctly individual sound that defies categorization and has delivered both cerebral stimulation and dancefloor satisfaction with every release so far.

Loving the artwork for their Albums, here is a taste.

Out of the dungeons of Moenchengladbach, Germany the thirty-something pulls the strings and makes things happen. His recent and most successful move definitely was to give birth to the already well established electro/house imprint Systematic in 2004 in Berlin which is a platform for his own productions as well as for hot and upcoming talents. Electronic house music with a certain breakdance appeal, reminiscent of old school Chicago dance floor insanity is Romboy’s true passion, when it comes to deejaying, producing and making decisions as the Systematic commander!

So far for the label he has collaborated with such high profiled artists as Booka Shade or Blake Baxter and signed tracks and mixes from producers like Martin Landsky, John Dahlbäck, Phonique, Jence or Abysm.

After only a couple of releases Romboy managed to put his own stamp on the international club scene and his first artist album Gemini was released in 2006

His second artist album for Systematic records, Contrast released in June 2008, sees an electronic album of collaborations with some of dance music’s most excellent vocalists. Chelonis R. Jones – known for releases on Get Physical and for his collaborations with Röyksopp – contributes on two releases. Blake Baxter – a regular Romboy collaborator who has also released on Kevin Saunderson’s KMS imprint, Tresor, Disko B and Underground Resistance – adds his vocals to ‘Fly Away’. And Mr. K-Alexi – one of Chicago’s finest who has also collaborated with artists including Larry Heard, Robert Owens, Will Smith and Felix Da Housecat, lends his voice to two tracks on the album.

This month sees the launch of the first Front Room Recordings Podcast. Daniel Steinberg under the guise of Cobra Limbos has delivered the most recent Front Room Release. Having had great success on labels such as Microfon, Grandpetrol and Stylerockets Daniel Steinberg now brings his sound to Front Room Recordings and you can expect to hear a lot more from the guy into the future His infectious driving grooves are going to be nothing short of amazing in the Easter Sunday Sun!!!

Have been digging his minimal style with a quirky fun side. ‘In my Home’ has a fun bouncy side to it, very light hearted. where the ‘Opening Close’ has a more deep minimal house side to it. Two very different styles from him.

KAYSH . . .

22 year old Australian producer/dj Kaysh has remixed the likes of Deadmau5, Melleefresh, Pablo Decoder and Neon Stereo, had remixes and originals released on Play Digital, Direct Drive Digital, Domina Productions and System Recordings and has been remixed herself by Kid Dub, Dj Zya, Khainz & Jill Bellac and Addiction to name just a few.

Starting piano lessons at 6 followed by the guitar and drums she always had aspirations of starting a band, but by 13 had developed an interest in electronic music, feeling it was something she could do independently. Buying her first pieces of equipment, a Roland EG 101 followed shortly by an MC 505, she began developing her skills, being heavily influenced by the Melbourne Wetmusik Techno label. She also developed a passion for djing, practicing on friends decks before getting her own at 17 and at 20 she won the Pioneer Pro Dj comp scoring herself some CDJ1000s, a mixer and a Soundsystem.
